«  http://fromthevaultradio.org/home/2007/04/  Cesar Chavez (1927-1993)...

...died at age 66.   His family is from Mexico.  He was born in Yuma, Arizona.  Cesar Chavez was a man who believed that all workers should have fair and equal treatment.  He worked as a migrant worker his entire life.  Migrant workers who picked crops were being treated poorly by the farm owners.  For example, the workers were paid meager wages, lived in shacks in poor conditions, and were often working in the fields when pesticides were applied to the crops.  If the workers complained, they were fired.  Cesar decided to fight against the farmers by forming a labor union called the United Farm Workers of America.  This labor union was a group of migrant workers who would stand up for each other.  Cesar Chavez talked to the people he worked with (he was a migrant worker) to join him in strikes and boycotts.  He disagreed with farm owners who exploited the migrant workers.  Cesar Chavez died but the labor union still exists to fight for the rights of migrant workers.

I think that Cesar was successful because the labor union still exists to fight for the rights of migrant workers.
